The President's Message

I can’t tell you how many times I have sat in the audience while watching a great speaker and think to myself, “I wish I could speak like that”. For a long time, I didn’t know how to even start a journey towards the goal of becoming a better public speaker. I recently started to make the connection between these great speakers and their leadership in companies or communities. I realized that to become a real leader in life and my job, I needed to improve my public speaking capabilities and leadership skills.

When I learned about Toastmasters and their focus on communication and leadership, I knew I had found the place to help me achieve my personal development goals. Another great thing about Toastmasters is that there is equal opportunity for all folks in the club to develop together and at whatever pace you are comfortable with. With a wide range of experience in the club, you are getting the right kind of feedback at the right time to help you improve and grow.

At the Towns Of York club, we have an executive that is very passionate and enthusiastic about our members and their success. We are all learning at a very fast pace and I am very impressed with the support from past executives and even past TOY members.

Toastmasters International has recently launched a re-branding of Toastmasters and our logo is “Where Leaders Are Made”. I find this very inspiring and I am taking full advantage of my time at Toastmasters to become the leader I know that I can be.

The goal of our executive is to provide every member of our club the opportunity to reach their leadership and public speaking potential. I am not all the way to being that person that I watch in the audience yet….but I am working on it…..and I am enjoying the journey with Toastmasters.
