The President's Message
Welcome to our new website, and to another great year at the Towns of York Toastmasters Club! It is my pleasure to be the President of the Towns of York for the upcoming year! Your Club executive team is looking forward to helping you achieve your goals this year, whatever they may be.
I hope you have taken some time to reflect on why you joined Toastmasters, and have re-committed yourself to participating in the educational program, and to taking full advantage of the opportunities it provides. You may have heard others' stories about how they have benefitted from Toastmasters, and you will truly understand what they mean once you dig in and start reaching your own objectives.
There is a very deep well of experience within our club! If you need help with a speech, have a question about a meeting role, or have reached a roadblock, ask for help. If you are like me, sometimes a little push is all you need to get back on track! It's been said many times: you get out of the program what you put into it! Take some time to plan your speaking and leadership goals for the year, then ask for a mentor to help you reach them. We learn by doing- so try a new meeting role, consider a club officer position for next year, speak at every meeting, and schedule regular speech projects. Keeping your momentum going helps to build your skills at a steady rate.
Take time to visit another club, participate in a speech contest, or attend a Conference - all of these experiences will enhance your Toastmasters journey.
Most of all, have fun - we are here to cheer you on!
